Washington Boat Transport and Hauling

Washington Boat Transporters like in all states have to follow the state DOT regulations for hauling oversize boats. Transporting boats in Washington can be quite tricky when the dimensions exceed 14 feet in height. In the major boating communities of Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia and the surrounding areas of Seattle, hauling boats that are oversize in height is cumbersome. Pilot cars and pole cars are needed and required. When transporting your boat to the Seattle area from the south, unloading in Olympia or Tacoma is advised as it does not require transiting north.

  • Washington regulates the operating hours as all states do to Monday through Friday, sunrise to Sunset. Saturday movements are allowed up to noon.
  • Boats being transported in Washington require a permit when the dimensions exceed 8.6 feet wide and 13.6 feet tall loaded.
  • Pilot cars are required when the boat exceeds 12 feet wide. A Washington State certified pole car is required when the boat exceeds 14 feet tall loaded.
