North Carolina Boat Transport

Boat Transport Companies when transiting North Carolina must comply with all state DOT regulations. North Carolina DOT regulations are pretty much in line with the rest of the country. All oversize boat transporters are required to obtain permits for any vessel over the legal limits.

In North Carolina any boat that exceeds 8.6 feet wide and if over 13.6 feet tall when loaded is required by law to have a current permit in the truck when being transported.
As with all states North Carolina regulates the operating hours of Boat Transporters. The hours of operation are from sunrise to sunset, Monday through Saturday. Major cities also have a curfew till 9:00 am in the morning and from 3:00 pm in the afternoon. This means that if in the city limits during this time the Boat Transport truck must shut down with no movement.
Boats over 10 feet wide and 14 feet tall must be accompanied by one escort for the width and another pole car for the height while being transported. One pole car is required for boats when loaded that exceed 14 feet tall when the boat transporter is moving. North Carolina state permits also require one escort for boats that are over 10 feet wide while being transported.
