- California regulates the hours of operation in metropolitan cities. Generally it is from 9:00 AM till 3:00 PM. This means that a truck cannot operate within the major city limits during these hours. Experienced Boat Transporters are aware of this DOT regulation and adhere to it judiciously.
- At all times when transporting a boat in California that is of oversize in nature, a current permit is required to haul any boat through or across the state. A boat is considered oversize when it excedes 8.6 feet wide and 13.6 feet tall, loaded.
- When transporting a boat in California that exceeds 12 feet wide it requires one escort at all times when moving. California also requires a pilot car when the height exceeded 14 feet tall loaded. That means after the boat is loaded the overall height is measured and a pilot car will be required if it exceeds 14 feet tall.
